Ensuring that there is a partition is important. This is because the doors of the two appliances might be interfering with each other.
It happens this way because the fridge is a naturally busy spot in the kitchen and if you are someone that bakes often then the oven will also be a busy spot for you. It is better to keep enough space between them for easy use of both appliances.
- Fridge and oven
Putting your stove directly near the fridge is the most dangerous fridge placement kind. This combination is worse if you are using a gas stove. Your electric stove should be placed in at least 3cm to 5cm distance away from the fridge while your gas stove should be placed in at least 30cm to 50cm away from the fridge.
Apart from the fact that your stove consistently produces heat that can affect the fridge, splatters of grease from the food you are cooking will land on the fridge continuously, soiling it and it could cause the exterior to start wearing out with time.
It will also make cooking inconvenient as there won’t be enough space for handles of pots and pans placed on the stovetops closest to the fridge.
If your kitchen is so small and it’s not possible for you to keep a distance between your stove and your fridge then you should use a self-adhesive, heat-insulating sheet on the wall of the fridge. Using a very effective range hood also helps as it will take up the smoke or heat from the stove almost immediately.
You can also use plywood or tempered glass partition between the stove and the refrigerator or get the fridge installed in a wooden frame.
- Fridge and Microwave
Most individuals place their microwaves on the fridge in their kitchen. This is not entirely a bad arrangement but it is necessary to note that both the microwave and the fridge require proper ventilation across their back and top to function effectively.
If the microwave is placed on the fridge and there is enough room for ventilation for the two appliances then there will be no problem. One way to make room for ventilation for the bottom of the microwave and the top of the fridge is to place the microwave on legs.
