Things to Never Incorporate in your Washing Machine

When it comes down to saving time, your washing machine is one of the most efficient appliances that help. It is necessary, then, to understand the proper way of using it.

Putting the wrong items into the washer carelessly or intentionally can damage both the item and your machine. But, taking proper care of your appliance will ensure that it serves you for long without occasional emergency repairs which will stress you and make you spend more money.

Most individuals put wrong things into their machines without knowing that it’s wrong! It’s important to know what you should put in and what you shouldn’t. If interested in getting the best out of your machine then read this to the end.

Items that would ruin your machine

More Detergent

It is a misconception to think putting more detergent into your washer would make your clothes come out cleaner and make them smell better. Large quantity of detergent shouldn’t be put in your washer. It will collect soap residue that will destruct the delicate control panel and slacken or break sealants in the gasket.

Overusing detergent will also ruin the smell and texture of your clothes, making it murky to feel and smell. Soap residue also collects in clothes and cause stains. This is a deviation from the purpose of using the washer in the first place because your clothes won’t come out clean.

Check the manual that comes with the machine and use the right amount of optimal detergent.

Coins and Keys

Most of the time, we keep things in our cloth pockets for safekeeping and easy access to them. But, about half of the time, we don’t remember to take them out.

Unsorted clothes having metallic items in them would grind against and hit your washer’s drum and glass doors with force during wash cycles. A damaged inner drum will ruin clothes when you wash them and the outer part would leak when damaged.

All your Clothes at Once

It is absolutely wrong to put all your clothes at once. Your washer can only take a specific amount of clothes at once. Be cautious of the quantity you stick into your washer.

An overload would seriously damage the washer’s suspension and bearings. Pipes would be pressured as water circulation will be very poor too.

Before using your washer, consult with the user’s manual that comes with it to know the appropriate amount of clothes that is recommended depending on the size of your washer.

Lingeries and Bras

The hooks, eyes, and other fastenings that are metallic on these clothes cause damages to both clothes and your washer.

Your bra becomes twisted out of shape, the fastening will snag other clothes and rip them. Hooks get caught in the drum and damages the balance and sensitive panels. It is more advisable to hand wash these clothing rather than load them in the washer with other clothes.

Flammable Stains

Gas spills, paint thinner, diesel, wood paint are combustible substances.

The heat from your appliance could cause the stains to combust and start a fire. One of the most dangerous things to happen is to have your dryer or washer on fire.
Instead, treat spots with appropriate remover, let it sit for a while, and wash in your washing machine only – don’t use a dryer or washer fitted with dryer, instead hang it out to dry.

Proper caution and maintenance go a long way in prolonging the life of your appliance. If there’s any problem with your washer that you cannot handle, call us at appliance repair to get specialized washer repair.
