Step By Step Instructions on How to Thoroughly Clean Your Range Hood

If your range hood is doing the actual work it was installed to do, which is to clear out smoke, grease, and other toxic vapours from your kitchen, it will end up being greasy and dirty after continuous use.
The range hood works by pulling up grease while you are cooking. Some of the greases cling to the range hood surface and filter while this is done. It makes the range hood very dirty with time.
It is very important to clean the range hood at least once a month. This is so that it can continue to perform its function effectively. If it is clogged or grease filled, it will be difficult for it to keep on drawing in smoke to keep your kitchen refreshed with clean air.
Before learning about how to thoroughly clean your range hood, you need to know that there are different types of range hood filters. These include:

Grease filter: This type of range hood filter works by filtering out oil fumes and grease from your kitchen.

Fabric filter: This kind of filter works by absorbing the oil fumes and grease from your kitchen. It cannot be cleaned. It should rather be replaced.

Metallic filter: This type of filter comes as aluminium of stainless steel. They can be found beneath in the range hood and can be cleaned from time to time.

Charcoal filter: this filter works by absorbing bad odour and smoke from your kitchen. It cannot be cleaned but it should be replaced.

Check to be sure about the type of filter your range hood uses before starting the task of getting it cleaned.

What you need to clean your hood effectively;

1) Clean the Filter and Duct

-Remove the filter from the range hood.
-Immerse them in a sink or in a bowl with degreasing soap and bicarbonate solvent or with cleaning vinegar and bicarbonate. These products must be mixed with very hot water.
-Allow the immersed filter to stand and soak for about 20 minutes. Scrub the filter surface to remove the grease and dirt.
-Rinse the filter and allow it to completely dry.
-The duct should also be cleaned out if it is clogged. If your range hood duct is left clogged it can lead to a fire outbreak. So it is important to ensure that this part of the range hood is cleaned too.

2) Clean the Range Hood Exterior And Interior.

-Get clean rags or paper towels, anti-grease soap, and warm water. You can also use bicarbonate-based paste, cleaning vinegar, and a dishwasher stream.
-Add the anti-grease soap into warm water and dip the rags or paper towel into the mixture.
-Wriggle out excess liquid and use the damp towel to wipe the entire surface of the range hood, both the interior and the exterior
-Re-clean the whole surface with plain warm water.
-Ensure that the range hood is totally dry and that all the parts are properly replaced before witching it on for use.

If you follow these steps your range hood should be squeaky clean and ready to function effectively. The range hood will become really easy to clean if you carry out this task at least once every month. This is because the longer it takes before each cleaning session the greasier, dirtier, and more stressful to clean it’ll get.
To guarantee a longer life span and effective functioning range hood, ensure that you schedule cleaning sessions for your range hood today.
