3 Reasons why your dryer might Be Stopping Midway

Having your dryer bail on you in the process of drying during laundry can be very frustrating and stressful.

But since throwing it out is not an option, you are forced to either take out your laundry to the next Laundromat or hang them out somewhere to dry. Hanging them out to dry could be disruptive on your schedule and that’s not going to be a good experience.

Most times a dryer breakdown will occur as a result of negligence or a lack of proper care. So, it is important to keep the dryer clean and ready to use, else dryer break down will become a regular occurrence and your appliance will eventually degenerate – sooner than later.

Below are 3 major reasons why your dryer stops midway during cycle.

1. Defective Motor

Your dryer stopping mid-cycle could be a result of a defect in the motor. The motor rotates the shaft, and in turn, it rotates the idler pulley, which has the job of rotating the drive belt around the dryer’s drum. A failing or defective motor can stop a cycle before it ends.

It will run hotter than normal and hot motor will automatically turn off to cool down, which would cause the dryer to shut down as well. If your drive motor is worn out, it should be replaced immediately

2. Clogged Exhaust Vent or Improper Venting

Your electric dryer would likely go off during a drying cycle if the exhaust vent is clogged or blogged. Snow, lint, sand particles, and dirt can clog the vent from outside.

A clogged vent would make your dryer overheat and the thermal fuse can trip off or blow. An improperly fixed vent may not get enough space to let out hot air and thus, overheating the dryer.

Regular cleaning of lint from your dryer would keep it running.

Get a professional to have it fixed to prevent hazardous effects and problems.

3. Damaged Connection Cord

Your dryer will typically stop once there’s a problem with its power connection. The connection problem is often a result of the inability of the cord to supply enough power to run your dryer. Check your cord properly for damage and have it fixed immediately.

There are other reasons for a dryer to stop midway. But, no major problem is expected if your appliance is regularly cleaned. It is important to service and check your appliances regularly to avoid disaster. Routinely maintain your dryer so you will enjoy using it without problems coming up unexpectedly.
